Conference Programs & Proceedings Coordinator
SPIE seeks a Full Time Conference Programs & Proceedings Coordinator to act as a member of an event team that is responsible for technical program development through production of digital manuscripts. Entails working with event team lead & conference chairs on process of organizing conferences, collecting, & preparing web & print promotional materials, & collecting of manuscripts. This process involves synthesizing input from multiple sources, extensive telephone & e-mail communications, proofreading, copy-editing, data processing, & web content management.
Skills required: managing multiple projects; computer proficiency in database systems, Word, Excel, & web content management tools; ability to meet deadlines; excellent oral & written communication skills; accuracy; attention to detail; & ability to work effectively with volunteers & colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Must be motivated, customer-service oriented, self-confident, conscientious, & able to work independently & as part of a team.
Education required: Bachelor’s degree in sciences or humanities or equivalent experience required. Knowledge of electronic media & familiarity with scientific publishing conventions helpful.
Compensation includes: Competitive wage, annual discretionary bonus, defined contribution retirement plan with additional company match and paid-time-off plan beginning at 31 days per year.
