Senior Project Manager

Alpha Technologies, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Senior Project Manager for its team in Bellingham, WA. This person will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to meet complex project commitments on-time and within budget. They will develop schedules, manages project constraints, mitigates budget and schedule variances, controls changes to scope, and coordinates the project life cycle from definition through closure. This position is also responsible for mentoring project managers within the team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead project management team through the project life cycle process from concept to delivery

• Communicate with the necessary teams and broader organization including regular reporting of project status to team, business directors, and executive management through executive review and project gate meetings

• Create, develop and manage project budget and schedule, resource requirements and planning, risk management and contingency plans

• Manage all phases of more complex project life cycles including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing projects

• Develop project plan and schedule to meet project commitments and stakeholder expectations

• Define and document project tasks and resource requirements

• Manage, track and communicate project status, plans, risks, timelines, and budget on a regular or as needed basis

• Create, maintain and communicate project issues and required actions lists

• Serve as primary point of contact for external and internal project teams

• Prepare for, administer and document project meetings

• Provide direction and support to project team

• Escalate project risks, issues or changes that potentially impact project commitments

• Coordinate the activities of cross-functional teams throughout the project life cycle

• Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables

• Track, implement and manage project changes

• Analyze project outcomes to determine future improvements

• Supervise and provide mentorship for the activities of the Project Managers

 

Additional responsibilities may include assisting Product Management in business development activities with review and/or preparation of project scope, timeline, cost and budget documents

 

Requirements and Skills:

Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training in business, engineering, social sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, computer science (and related degrees), biological sciences

 

Experience: 4 - 6 years in project management, construction management, business, planning, engineering or manufacturing

 

Supervisory: 2 - 4 years

 

• Excellent record of attendance

• Ability to speak/read/write English

• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

• Work well under pressure

• Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record

• Sufficient credit line for business expenses

• Available weekends and after hours when on call

• Experienced in team leadership and team building skills

• Ability to develop trust and foster open communication

• Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to self-motivate, be proactive and responsible

• Ability to present project information to executive management and customers

• Understanding of basic business, marketing and sales processes and tools

• Ability to work and maintain composure under pressure Project Management certification through PMI or IPMA or demonstrated progress towards certification is desirable

 

PC Application Skills:

Basic level: Adobe

Intermediate level: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio

Advanced level: Project

 

Travel Requirements: Expected < 10%
