Project Manager

OutBack Power Technologies, a member of the Alpha Group, seeks a Project Manager for its facility in Arlington, WA. This person is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to meet project commitments on-time and within budget, developing schedules, managing project constraints, mitigating budget and schedule variances, controlling changes to scope, and coordinating the project life cycle from definition through closure.


Responsibilities:

• Manage all phases of the project life cycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing projects
• Develop project plan and schedule to meet project commitments and stakeholder expectations
• Define and document project tasks and resource requirements
• Manage, track and communicate project status, plans, risks, timelines, and budget on a regular or as needed basis
• Create, maintain and communicate project issues and required actions lists
• Serve as primary point of contact for external and internal project teams
• Prepare for, administer and document project meetings
• Provide direction and support to project team
• Escalate project risks, issues or changes that potentially impact project commitments
• Coordinate the activities of cross-functional teams throughout the project life cycle
• Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
• Track, implement and manage project changes
• Analyze project outcomes to determine future improvements


Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist Product Management in business development activities with review and/or preparation of project scope, timeline, cost and budget documents
• Assist Purchasing and Engineering with identifying potential suppliers or contractors


Requirements and Skills:
Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training in business administration, engineering, social sciences

Experience: 2 - 4 years in field of project management, engineering, production planning in manufacturing


Supervisory: 1 - 2 years

• Excellent attendance record
• Ability to speak/read/write English
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Work well under pressure
• Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Sufficient credit line for business expenses
• Available weekends and after hours when on call
• Team leadership, building and diplomacy skills
• Ability to develop trust and foster open communication
• Aptitude to learn and apply new concepts quickly
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to self-motivate, be proactive, be organized and responsible
• Competence to present project information to executive management and customers
• Understanding of basic business, marketing and sales processes and tools
• Capability to work and maintain composure under pressure


PC Application Skills:
Basic level: Adobe
Intermediate level: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio
Advanced level: Project


Travel Requirements: Expected < 10%

Desirable:
• Project Management certification through PMI or IPMA or demonstrated progress towards certification
• Experience with products used in solar energy industry
