Project Engineer 4

Alpha Technologies, which provides world-class powering solutions, seeks a Project Engineer 4 for its Power Systems Development team in Bellingham, WA. This person will serve as the overall project engineer and engineering focal-point for select projects as assigned. They will be responsible for driving assigned projects from start to completion and meeting all project metrics.

 

Responsibilities

• Manages all technical requirements and ensures the product meets all agreed upon requirements

• Creates and maintains the technical specification for assigned project(s)

• Collaborates with Project Management to help maintain project schedules and resources

• Mitigates project issues which may arise

• Understands all high-level aspects of the product/project including design, test and manufacturing

• Ensures the product can be built and tested to specification within Manufacturing

• Ensures the product meets highest quality while also meeting lowest cost possible

• Assists in the management of development resources for assigned project; including external resources and co-developer resources

• Performs power electronics hardware engineering, design, testing, release and maintenance

• Establishes and maintains engineering documentation for release and sustainment of assigned products

• Provides interface between engineering groups, co-developers, applications, technical publications, manufacturing, marketing, sales and the customer

• Develops and implements detailed engineering documentation and validation test plans

• Coordinates administrative support for project team members ensuring the logistical success of project related goals

• May provide technical leadership/mentoring of junior level engineers as needed

 

Requirements and Skills:

Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training in electrical engineering

Experience: 6 - 8 years in field of electrical engineering

• Excellent record of attendance

• Ability to speak/read/write English

• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

• Work well under pressure

• Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record

• Sufficient credit line for business expenses

• Solid skills in project, vendor and customer timeline management

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good team-work and team building skills

• Experience in direct customer/vendor support and interaction

• Solid experience with power electronics hardware design

• Knowledge of documentation and release process

• Self-starter and highly motivated to succeed

 

PC Application Skills:

Basic level: Access, Visio

Intermediate level: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project

• Experience with schematic capture/ PCB lay-out tools, such as Protel or OrCAD

• Experience with basic Mechanical CAD Software

• Experience with Circuit Simulator Software

 

Travel Requirements: Expected < 10%

 

Desirable:

• Knowledge of MRP and Bills of Material structures

• Experience with ISO 9001 design control procedures

• Power electronics circuit design experience

• Analog instrumentation circuit design experience

• Experience in a software/firmware development environment

• Experience with embedded microcontroller and related controls

• Electro-mechanical design experience (e.g. PCB layout, wire harness design, etc.)

• Computer networking familiarity, including IP protocols, SNMP and web protocols
